JOHN LENNON COLLAGE

This collage of John Lennon was created with just torn newspaper and PVA glue, no paint or marks were added.  After setting herself a challenge in tonal values, Jenny couldn’t stop and the piece became a force within itself.  What started as an exercise became an A1 piece of art taking 6 months to complete. It became a talking point after a local journalist wrote a piece for the front page of his paper, and was then seen by a High Street gallery who asked if they could show it alongside John Lennon’s own travelling art exhibition which happened to be showing there at the time. She had offers to buy but decided that as the cheap newspaper would eventually break down, that she would keep it on her North facing wall at home. Where it still lives after 16 years.
